The Regional Conservation Caucus in the Eastern Caribbean launched in Saint Vincent & the Grenadines on May 31st, officially announcing its five priority agenda items.

  • Sustainable Financing for Conservation
  • Integrated Coastal Zone Management
  • Waste Management
  • Sustainable Water Planning & Integrated watershed management
  • Protected Areas Designation and Management

The Launch builds upon the motion and approval for a Caucus made by the Regional Assembly during its sixth sitting in March.

It was held during this year’s meeting of The Council of Ministers with responsibility for Environmental Sustainability (COM:ES 09) in the OECS, representing the close partnership between the ICCF Group and the OECS Commission in advancing political will for conservation in the region.

All caucus decisions have been made by the members themselves via survey responses on priority issues and nominating Co-Chairs. ICCF's Executive Vice President, Susan H. Lylis, met with the Council of Ministers to discuss Caucus operationalization and provide advice and examples from other Causes that the ICCF Group supports globally. Decisions on Chairmanship of the Caucus are ongoing, and the first event focused on the Sustainable Financing for Conservation is being planned for August.
