ICCF UK marked World Oceans Day on Wednesday, June 17 with a well-attended reception in Speaker House, Houses of Parliament, held in collaboration with Friends of the Ocean and bringing together policymakers, conservation leaders, and industry experts.
The event featured opening remarks from Mr Speaker, the Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Nus Ghani MP, Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Ways and Means, and Anna Gelderd, MP for South East Cornwall. Each speaker emphasized the critical importance of protecting marine ecosystems, and highlighted the role of Parliament and parliamentarians in supporting effective ocean conservation policies.
The room was filled with Members of Parliament, peers, and representatives from across the conservation sector, reflecting the strong and growing desire to protect the world’s oceans. Discussions throughout the evening touched on the need for coordinated action, sustainable resource management, and continued cooperation.
