On September 10, 2024, the U.K. APPG on International Conservation held its Inaugural Meeting in the Houses of Parliament. Barry Gardiner MP was unanimously elected chair of the APPG, and Lord Randall of Uxbridge and newly elected parliamentarians Pippa Heylings MP and Uma Kumaran were elected as Vice Chairs.

Together, the APPG represents a cross-party group of some of the most passionate environmental advocates in Parliament. The APPG committed to focusing on a wide variety of issues affecting nature and biodiversity, from biodiversity funding mechanisms to illegal wildlife trade and illegal deforestation. They also look forward to raising awareness on the upcoming CBD COP16 in Cali, Colombia and promoting British environmental leadership on the international stage.

Following the Inaugural Meeting, the group’s Secretariat, ICCF-UK, held a reception in the Thames Pavilion for new members, partners, and colleagues to celebrate the re-launch of the APPG. Speakers included APPG Chair Barry Gardiner and Vice Chair Lord Randall, as well as ICCF Group CEO John B. Gantt. The reception set the stage for an exciting new chapter in British leadership in international conservation, galvanizing support for environmental issues across the public, private, and NGO space.
